The Native American Indian Dog is a large, wolfish-looking working dog with erect ears, a bushy tail, and a dense double coat. Size and color vary more than in a closed show breed, because this is a modern reconstructed type rather than an ancient kennel standard.

A large, wolflike companion for a house and land; a heavy coat that sheds, a reserved howl more than a yap, and too much dog for a small apartment.
